The Basic Adolescent Counselling and Mental Health course is designed for the Youth Advisory Research Unit to provide them with the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to understand and address the unique mental health challenges faced by adolescents. The course aims to equip the YARU with essential counseling techniques and intervention strategies tailored to the specific needs of adolescents. The YARU will learn to create a safe and supportive environment, develop effective communication skills, and apply appropriate counselling approaches to promote the mental well-being of adolescents.

Final Assessment:

The final assessment for the Basic Adolescent Counselling and Mental Health course will consist of a practical skills demonstration. This assessment will provide an opportunity for participants to showcase their understanding of the course content and their proficiency in working with adolescents in a counselling setting.

The Preventing Sexual Exploitation and Abuse for My Voice and Partners (PSEA-My Voice), is a tailor-made course designed for the organization's employees and its partners, to provide them with a comprehensive understanding of the UN Standards of Conduct regarding Sexual Exploitation and Abuse. The course aims to equip the personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent and respond effectively to incidents of sexual exploitation and abuse in humanitarian settings, particularly when working with vulnerable young people. In appreciation of the organization’s PSEA Policy, participants will gain insights into their obligations, the consequences of such violations, and the specific responsibilities of the organization’s senior management and offices/departments.

This course provides an overview of mental health from a life course perspective, emphasizing the burden of mental disorder and the determinants of mental health across biological, behavioral, humanistic, cognitive, and social domains. Students will explore the origins and consequences of stigma, as well as cultural differences in the presentation of mental distress. The course will cover various diagnostic and assessment tools, including the DSM-5 and other standardized measures. Students will learn about prevention and promotion options and techniques, as well as treatment options and techniques, including pharmacologic, psychological, and social interventions. The course will also address care integration, including motivation and tools for integrating mental health care within primary care and other settings.

They will learn how to design and implement research projects, analyze data, and utilize evidence to advocate for meaningful change in various domains. This course emphasizes the practical application of research and advocacy skills to address pressing social issues.

Feedback and guidance will be provided to support participants' ongoing development in research and advocacy skills.

The course is typically targeted at development practitioners, project managers, and professionals working in the non-profit sector who are involved in planning, implementing, and evaluating development projects.

The course covers a range of topics related to M&E, including the purpose and benefits of M&E, designing and implementing M&E systems, developing M&E plans, data collection and analysis, and reporting and using M&E findings. Participants will learn how to develop M&E frameworks, design and conduct evaluations, and use M&E data to improve project performance and achieve better project outcomes.

By the end of the course, learners will be able to develop evidence-based advocacy messages, appraise the situation with regards to access to safe abortion in Zimbabwe, and identify issues for further investigation and action.

This course is designed to equip learners with a comprehensive understanding of access to safe abortion in Zimbabwe, including the concepts, challenges, and advocacy strategies. This course focuses on the advocacy efforts to criminalize revenge porn, also known as non-consensual pornography, in Zimbabwe. It examines the legal and social implications of revenge porn in Zimbabwe and explores the strategies for advocating for the criminalization of this harmful practice in the Zimbabwean context. Students will also develop practical skills for designing and implementing advocacy campaigns in Zimbabwe, and will learn how to measure the impact and sustainability of advocacy efforts in Zimbabwe. The course will also explore the cultural and gender dimensions of revenge porn in Zimbabwe and strategies for promoting gender equality and addressing cultural norms that perpetuate revenge porn in Zimbabwe.

This course was designed for Movement for Strengthening Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights Activism (MOSA) project.

The course "Analysis of Termination of Pregnancy in Zimbabwe in relation to the World Standard of Human Rights" is designed to explore the complex issue of abortion in Zimbabwe through a human rights lens. The course will cover topics such as the legal and policy framework for abortion in Zimbabwe, the social and cultural factors that influence attitudes towards abortion, and the impact of restrictive abortion laws on women's health and rights.

The course will use the World Standard of Human Rights as a framework for analysis, examining how Zimbabwe's laws and policies related to abortion measure up to international human rights standards. Students will learn about human rights principles such as the right to life, the right to health, and the right to equality, and how these principles apply to the issue of abortion.

Through case studies, group discussions, and guest lectures from experts in the field, students will develop a deeper understanding of the complex issues surrounding abortion in Zimbabwe and the broader implications for human rights. The course will also explore strategies for advocacy and activism to promote the rights of women and girls in relation to reproductive health and rights, including access to safe and legal abortion services.

The course "Ending Child Marriages" is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the issue of child marriage and strategies for ending this harmful practice. The course will cover topics such as the causes and consequences of child marriage, the legal and policy frameworks for addressing child marriage, and the role of education and community engagement in ending child marriage.

The course will take a human rights-based approach, examining child marriage as a violation of the rights of children and girls. Students will learn about international human rights standards related to child marriage, including the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women.

Overall, the course "Ending Child Marriages" will provide students with the knowledge and skills to become effective advocates and activists for ending child marriage, promoting the rights of girls and women, and contributing to the global effort to end this harmful practice.
